Who We Are
-
We believe that everyone can learn to be safer in and around water. Everyone can learn to swim, to mermaid, to respond calmly in a medical emergency — and we are committed to teaching you from where you’re at to where you want to be.
Delta Diving is especially dedicated to teaching those who may not feel comfortable in traditional learning settings for aquatics and first aid. We will communicate with you before lessons start to ensure you’ll feel safe, seen, and comfortable — because that’s what you need in order to learn and retain what we teach.

Seek and share aquatics & safety knowledge for all.
Cecíl and Casper have long shared a determination to be the best at whatever they undertake. They are both experts in their fields, and have a strong desire to share that expertise far and wide to make the world a better place. Delta Diving was borne out of the need to diligently ameliorate aquatics education and make it more accessible to POC, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ people, who are statistically more at risk of drowning and face more barriers to safe spaces in which to learn swimming and first aid skills.
Part of our commitment to accessibility is in our pricing structure. Learning first aid and how to swim are vital survival skills that could save your, or someone else’s, life! It has never made sense to us that this knowledge be kept behind a paywall. While we balance paying our bills and providing our services in a sustainable manner, we hope that our sliding scale makes it possible for you to enjoy the water safely.

Cecíl and Casper met while mermaiding at a Florida spring in 2023, and quickly realized how aligned they were in their passions for the water and education. They started working together that summer, and have hardly been apart since!
Cecíl has been a lifeguard and swim instructor since 2016 in a broad variety of spaces but always working with a safety-first mindset. Whether guarding at their local Y, coaching a swim team, teaching babies and toddlers, making magic as a Walt Disney World resort lifeguard, or showing adults everything from floating to full-on freestyle, Cecíl brings not only their safety mindset but an engaged, fun teaching style that can be adapted to any learner.
Casper first earned his lifeguard certification at 15, and has been working to make people of all ages - but especially middle school-age children - feel safe while they learn. With nine years of experience in both community and classroom education, Casper specializes in pedagogy and curriculum development for non-traditional learning environments (like a pool, or a first aid class). As our Wizard of Pedagogy, Casper is uniquely qualified to work with Cecíl to hold meaningful spaces for students to learn critical safety skills. The spaces he holds and the skills they teach not only serve to impart those skills, but contextualize them within students’ lives and begin their lifelong relationships of curiosity with the water.
Between the two of us and our combined 35 years of experience thinking about and working in water safety, plus a combined 18 years in teaching, we saw a need for a swim school that worked for the folks who have the hardest times accessing these skills: those who are financially pressed, those who don’t come from easy access to water, those who aren’t served by traditional learn-to-swim lessons. We believe that everyone deserves a safe space to learn to enjoy the water and take care of themselves and their communities — and Delta Diving is how we’re trying to help that happen.
